March 12, 2020

With news and concerns about COVID-19 (coronavirus) continuing to headline many news stories, this topic has raised concerns about upcoming SIMA events, specifically the Snow & Ice Symposium scheduled for June 16-19, 2020 in Hartford, CT. SIMA’s purpose is to support and empower our members for success, thus, the health and safety of our members is our number one priority.

At this time, the Symposium, which is more than three months away, is scheduled to proceed as planned. As news about COVID-19 (coronavirus) continues, we will post Symposium updates related to this health issue here. Myself and our Symposium planning team have been in frequent communication with meeting professionals, the SIMA Board of Directors, the Connecticut Convention Center, as well as monitoring reports and updates from the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO). The convention center and contracted hotel properties are taking every precaution to protect attendees and guests.

We will actively and consistently communicate with you as the situation requires. I understand the seriousness of the situation and also recognize the importance of our Symposium to our members and the industry at large. We plan to notify Symposium attendees in advance and at the event of the importance of illness prevention and steps all of us can take to prevent the spread of any germs and viruses.

Thank you for your membership and support to SIMA. Please contact me with your thoughts at any time at martin@sima.org or 262-236-9951. I’m looking forward to seeing you and all of our attendees and exhibitors at the Symposium in June.
