Volunteering for Snow & Ice - A New Way to Engage

By Martin Tirado posted 10-20-2020 15:02

Committees are boring. I’ve served on several and managed many others, so I’ve experienced the good, bad and indifferent. The good is they are an easy way to meet new people while sharing and learning. They do offer a way to give back and get more involved. Honestly though, they often aren’t that exciting.

This said, for SIMA and the snow and ice industry to continue growing and improving, we must get together and exchange ideas and best practices. With some new technology, we now have a means to make peer-to-peer engagement a little more exciting, all while working on specific topics in snow and ice management.

Join SIMA and other snow professionals on Tuesday, November 10 at 12 pm ET/11 am CT to participate in this new process of solving challenges and creating possible solutions. You will be able to choose a virtual “table” to connect with others and start a facilitated video discussion. Some of the topics that will be addressed include:

  • Workforce development
  • Financial reporting for snow
  • Young professionals in snow
  • Podcasts and other content delivery methods
  • New standards and best practices
  • New SIMA member resources

We will also be open to discussions not mentioned above, so please bring your creative thoughts and ideas. Our intention is to have consistent meetings like this over time to continue to engage our members and volunteers as much as possible with no boundaries and no barriers. SIMA values our members' ideas, let’s do this in a new format and make it fun and more engaging!
